About the Artists, John and Pam Hults
Pam Hults was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and she graduated from Kutztown State College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Art Education. The first display of her folk art was in 1979 and she continues with her journey. Most of her artwork is signed P.J. Rankin Hults.
Pam and John met at Kutztown State College and they married in 1980. While John pursued a career in the corporate world, he always made time to make Pam’s custom frames in his Lititz, PA wood shop.
Knowledgable Folk Art Enthusiasts
In addition to her folk art, Pam owned and managed the folk art retail store, Maple Croft Interiors. The store was located near Willow Street, PA for twenty eight years
Pam’s original designs are blending the traditional 18th and 19th Pennsylvania German arts of Fraktur and Scherenschnitte, with a bit of whimsy. The artwork is a combination of scissor cutting, watercolor, pen and ink on hand dyed paper. The finished artwork is displayed in traditional grained frames, hand grain painted and waxed, by her husband John, in their Lititz, PA studio.
Nationally Recognized Folk Artists
Their artwork has been selected by “Early American Life” magazine, “Directory of Traditional American Crafts”, in 2009 and again in 2019.
